Beware of Scams

As we become aware of scams they will be added to this page.

Lead theft resurgence and precautions

We have been contacted regarding a new incidence of lead theft from historic churches in a neighbouring diocese. We need to increase vigilance to ensure all churches meet the requirements of their insurers in terms of having SmartWater or equivalent applied AND REGISTERED.

Rural and semi-rural churches near to main roads and motorways are the most at risk of lead theft in my experience and so the parishes near to the A5 / M42 need to be particularly aware of this.

There are guidelines on heritage crime and in particular the prevention of metal theft on the CofEB website.
